It's perfectly normal for a baby to stop breathing completely for 10 or 20 seconds while it's asleep. It's just scary when you don't know that it's perfectly normal, and it doesn't start again when gently prodded. Linnea and I spent last night in paediatrics and we confirmed that she is healthy in every respect except a slight cold, so I've bought a breathing monitor (no, we don't need one, but I want one, for my own sanity) and we're home now.

The last week has been harrowing. It's hard to pretend to oneself that one isn't worried when one really, really is. Thankfully everyone was very understanding and doesn't blame me in the least for worrying.

I'm going to bed now.

Sheesh, I'd've worried! 9 months on and I still go in and check YoungBloke's breathing if he hasn't woken up for a feed for a few hours.

Blowing gently on a baby's face can make them gasp so they start breathing again.

I never knew I'd worry so much till I became a mum.

Woohoo! I'm glad Linnea is OK, and I hope you're feeling better about things.
