Just Say No! More Drugs

Today, Linnea is 7 weeks old and I am no longer on any medication. I can get through the day without pain relief, and I finished my second course of antibiotics Thursday at 8 am. Also on Thursday I had my six-week checkup with the consultant, and she's going to refer me to a gynaecologist for repairs, which is great - it's a relief to know that a little restitching will bring me back to normal. And it's nice to know that my "funny feeling" that something wasn't right was justified, rather than paranoia or underestimating the usual effects of childbirth on the unfortunate female physiology. And physiognamy - I'm spotty again.
Linnea is ginormous and doesn't look to be slowing down any time soon. I'm going to have to buy her the next size up of nappy wraps soon - that's not Newborn, or Small, but Medium. That's ridiculous, in a 7-week-old.
The main pedestrian street in Reading today was bouncing along to the Huckleberries; I'm sure I've heard of them and I don't know why or when or where. Also, I discovered that the group "Juniper" whom I heard perform "Eskimo Friend" and "Weatherman" sometime before I left Dublin later split and Damien Rice is actually real and people have heard of him. Now I want a recording of both those songs, espeically "Eskimo Friend" which I remember as strangely haunting.
Rob has been given his Father's Day gift, which he seems to like well enough. My wedding ring still doesn't fit; I can't decide whether I'm never ever goign to shrink back to my old size, and I should have it resized, or I should wait for the baby fat to slough off at some indeterminate point in the future. There is baby fat; I went from a size 8-10 to a 14. And it's especially unfortunate for my top half, because my silk summer dress no longer fits.
Oh - and we have proven that we are quite capable of going out for a pleasant dinner in a restaurant, though I have lost what little taste I had for red wine. Must experiment with Veuve Cliquot again; I suspect my taste for that is unkillable, even with hormones.

Date: 2004-06-19 03:18 pm (UTC)I don't know about where you live, but in the US, I understand baby items are sized so that newborns commonly fit into sizes labeled as fitting older infants. The idea seems to be to make the parents think their baby is progressing faster than normal.

Date: 2004-06-19 04:06 pm (UTC)Here, one gets a little booklet for the child's personal health record, which conveniently contains pages where one's own child's physical size development thingy is plotted on a graph - weight and head circumference are there, and possibly length, though my area doesn't measure length in infants. So the clothes people would only fool people who don't check their kids' medical records.

Date: 2004-06-21 06:17 am (UTC)I also own the entirety (read 'both') of the Huckleberries album collection. A) I like their music and B) They put on a very fun live show (I hope they had the remote controlled donation bucket when you saw them).
Anyhow... glad things are going well for you.
Mike
