I got to sleep sometime after midnight, because the people next door (shared house, 5 young professionals) were having a whale of a time, both in the street, in their back garden, and in their hallways. A whale of a time is, like whalesong, high-pitched, only tuneful if it's what you want to listen to, and it travels great distances.

We were then woken at 04:40 am by a catfight and the milkman's cart. The catfight didn't involve any of our cats, luckily, but it woke us both up and we had to check on our cats before we could be sure that they were ok. Luckily they have bells so we could justlisten for them rather than having to see them in the dark.

I couldn't get back to sleep after that; I was itching like crazy and kept imagining I felt fleas crawling on me. We really do have to find a way to really get rid of them. I bet it involves packing all our belongings in the shed again. That was tedious. I didn't mention it in my exterminator post.

So I got to sleep about 08:30 and slept until noon. I took an antihistamine tablet, which I think helped, and Rob made me porridge because he's sweet and I was so tired I was almost crying. The days when I could cope on four and a half hours' sleep are gone.

So I've done a couple of loads of laundry, cleared the dining room (well, mostly) and set down another lot of flea poison in the library. I've also done a bit of kitchen-clearing, and I ate some of the quiche I cooked for yesterday's dinner.

I've also started packing for my visit to Aran; I'll be away from Saturday to Sunday week.
