Punting and eating
Aug. 9th, 2003 06:00 pmYesterday evening we went punting in Oxford with Emma and Janice. Emma was the best punter, and Janice and Rob had a go as well. I didn't, because of my arms, but it was lovely sitting in the punt looking up at the trees and the blue sky. We stayed out about 2 hours. It was lovely, and we didn't get the least bit wet. Well, the punters got slightly damp, but dried off fast.
After that, we went to dinner in a nice Indian place, where we confused them by ordering four dishes to share. Don't Indian restaurants usually serve things in serving dishes and give you a seperate plate? Not this place, they served things on plates with little garnishes. Cuisine.
When we got home, we found that someone had been in Janice's house and taken a couple of things. I hope the insurance are reasonable about it. The police were lovely, apparently.
This morning we both had cool showers. I washed my hair, since in this heat it will dry instantly or as near as makes no difference. Then Janice and Emma came around to collect a bike and headed off to walk along the Ridgeway. Rob and I went shopping for barbecue food and some other trivia. We accidentally found a Summer Fayre at the local church and bought some books and CDs (Sisters of Mercy for me - the church is very High C of E, so this was a must once I'd spotted it).
I found part of the kitchen and dining room again. And we flea-treated the library; we'll have to do it again soon.
