It was nice; I mostly have to avoid crowds these days due to an ever-decreasing lack of vivacity, which means that I didn't meet as many people as usual, but we had a good time. Luckily the really hot weather didn't start until Saturday, and we positioned the tent to the immediate west of the gazebo, so that the gazebo cast shade on the tent until natural noon, which meant that we could sleep as late as 08:30 before being baked out into the open.

I think that Rob may well be the only person who is as nice drunk as he is sober. Everyone else I know is more fun when they're sober. However, I knew that there would be a lot of alcohol involved, and I got a little tipsy myself, so I can't really complain.

We had a camping stove and were able to make lots of tea. Next time, we need a water container and a lantern. Also, we need to sort things out so that we can carry most of the food - which is the heaviest stuff - on our backs, dammit. It's too damn heavy to carry on one shoulder.

There were a lot of huge ginormous tents. However, Rob and I are rapidly achieving camping with a car levels of luxury without camping with a car levels of car-drivingness. It's fun to see how uncampinglike we can make it. The inflatable mattress has to go, though. It's too heavy and takes too long to inflate. I think a self-inflating sleeping mat or two next time. Yeah.
