Last night we had a "William Hague is hosting Have I Got News For You" party, to which Janice, G and Jen were invited. We ate a lovely roast chicken, and Jen and Gideon both liked the carrots-and-parsnips (mashed together with butter and black pepper, the way mother made 'em) and Jen experienced bread sauce. I like introducing people to bread sauce.

We also drank a bit, and played Munchkin, which was much more amusing when I decided arbitrarily that no turn could take more than 30 seconds; until then it was rather dull. I have found that game mostly-dull most times I've played it now; I think perhaps one needs to be hilariously drunk or a seasoned RPGer. I find Chez Geek far more fun.

Someone from the Town Hall called me about the reception, which is nice. I have a feeling the person now in control is going to remain in control. Apparently asking caterers to treat champagne as they do wine - as a beverage, rather than a symbol - is an odd request for a wedding. Ho hum.

I must arrange for us to visit / be visited by my mother in law and discuss the whole thing. There might be something important she would like that I'm planning to leave out.

Well, Munchkin is one big in joke. I do think it can be enjoyed by people who don't get all the jokes alright, but Chez Geek (Grunt, Greek, whatever) are more accessible. It's a whole gateway drug kind of thing...

Ah, but I was the non-playing GM. Amazing how many blank card decisions went against Gideon...
