HIGNFY Party
May. 3rd, 2003 06:08 pmLast night we had a "William Hague is hosting Have I Got News For You" party, to which Janice, G and Jen were invited. We ate a lovely roast chicken, and Jen and Gideon both liked the carrots-and-parsnips (mashed together with butter and black pepper, the way mother made 'em) and Jen experienced bread sauce. I like introducing people to bread sauce.
We also drank a bit, and played Munchkin, which was much more amusing when I decided arbitrarily that no turn could take more than 30 seconds; until then it was rather dull. I have found that game mostly-dull most times I've played it now; I think perhaps one needs to be hilariously drunk or a seasoned RPGer. I find Chez Geek far more fun.
Someone from the Town Hall called me about the reception, which is nice. I have a feeling the person now in control is going to remain in control. Apparently asking caterers to treat champagne as they do wine - as a beverage, rather than a symbol - is an odd request for a wedding. Ho hum.
I must arrange for us to visit / be visited by my mother in law and discuss the whole thing. There might be something important she would like that I'm planning to leave out.
