Arts, crafts, and shoppery
Dec. 28th, 2002 06:00 pmThe only plan for today was to go to the Hobbycraft shop in the retail park where Homebase is. So we woke - fairly late - and ate and bathed and so on, and toddled off to Hobbycraft. I selected a couple of paintbrushes from the wide selection, had a look at the prices, and realised that by touch alone I'd chosen the most expensive sable brushes there. So I had another go. I also got some more paper, and a small pad of postcards.
Niamh got some beads and Rob got some paints for his models.
After that we went looking for food; none of the cafes we knew we liked were open (they even closed the one in Waterstones' bookshop! Argh!) so we ended up going to a Bar/Cafe v. trendy place with low dining tables and sofas. The food was ok, the atmosphere was pleasant, we were the only customers and the hot chocolate was delightful. Then we went home and I had another go at painting (eek! somehow I have managed to get perspective and trees all wrong, how'd I do that?) and Niamh made a lovely bracelet - long string of shiny beads with a star hanging from it, wrapped several times around one wrist. It looked almost nameable, though I, who am biased, do say it.
