Wedding again: invitations

The wedding invitations arrived today. I dusted off my calligraphy set and had a go; first I've tried since my arms went funny. No, I didn't practice on the invites :)
I turns out that if I use a nice pen and just write in my own handwriting - the fast, large one, not the fast tiny note-taking one - I get a legible result that is ok aesthetically. If I try to recover my lost calligraphy skills, I get a legible result that looks as though it was drawn by a copyist, rather than written by someone who knew what the letters are.
I like names that begin in D, B and P, by the way - by far the easiest to make simple and attractive, for me. A is quite difficult, because my demmed signature keeps butting in and making it illegible.
Must . . . resist . . . writing . . . invitations . . . until . . . January . . .
Though perhaps I can send the Swedish ones before that.
