Rob was walking and got punched

Rob, mine other half, was walking down the road in sunny Reading. Someone walked past him. As they passed, they stretched out their arm and punched him open-handed in the side of the head. And kept on walking.

He's not hurt, though he may develop a bruise. But we're shocked.

I don't suppose there's any way that could have been an accident? A case of mistaken identity? Something?

We have no way of knowing - it was a walk-by punching. Possible motives are: mistaken identity, and objection to people in black leather coats and hats, or doolalliness. And some others I haven't thought of. It's weird that the puncher didn't stop, speak, grunt or yell.

oh dear, it sounds as if the random violence is spreading. we've had a spate of it in cambridge over the last week -- some idiots in a white transit van are harassing cyclists and pedestrians. the cyclists are being punched in the head so that they fall off their bikes, and the pedestrians are having bleach chucked at them.

my sympathies, and hope rob is ok.
