New Deal - the Job Centre
Jan. 10th, 2002 01:32 pmI went down to the Job Centre today for my New Deal appointment. I was on time, I had a CV printed out, I had a summary of most of the positions I've applied for, I had a bad stomach ache and a serious case of nerves. I feel terribly guilty, it seems, for being unemployed.
However, it went very well. She was interested in what I had to say, seemed very surprised that I haven't got a job, given my skills (so am I, or I would be if I wasn't so resigned), and obviously wanted to be helpful. I have another appointment with her next week. She is investigating work experience; training other unemployed people in basic computer use. That is very interesting to me.
