Yes, I know that I shouldn't have lost it and that I lost it through carelessness. I know that I don't like rings and that it doesn't fit right. Furthermore, I know that I shouldn't put that much emotional investment in material goods.

None of that matters. It's gone, I can't find it, and I want it. Knowing that I lost it through my own fault and that it wasn't a profoundly important thing anyway doesn't help. My finger is beginning to ache with awareness of absence of ring.

We bought the rings over time, because we had them specially made. They weren't very expensive, as engagement rings go - £400 each, I think. We went looking on a Saturday and couldn't find anything we liked, and then we went looking agian and couldn't find anyone who could make us something we liked, and eventually in despair we went to a gemstone supplier, not a jewellers at all, and they were very helpful indeed and agreed straight off to make us the rings and what's more they didn't charge us the earth for them.

"I don't want it to sparkle," I told the jeweller, "and we want them both the same except for the size, and we want blue topaz and sapphires, and we definitely don't want the stones to protrude in anyway and we'd like them to shine as little as possible. And we want white gold or silver, because I hate yellow gold."

Not the usual order for engagement rings, I think, but they agreed to do their best. rings alt="rings in boxes"> rings The congratulations cards we received.

I hope you find your ring!

OH lost his wedding ring a while back, and then, inexplicably, discovered it in his sock drawer.

*HUGS*

It's horrible when you lose something as precious to you as that (I lost mine once years ago, and we found it down the back of the bathroom sink pedestal - had to remove it from the wall to retrieve the ring *lol*)

I hope yours turns up for you.

Oooh. That's rotten. I hope it shows up--they are a very nice set. What a horrid stinky feeling, when you realize it's not there.
