Last night we had Janice and Emma 'round for dinner, just for fun. Then we realised that it was our anniversary and that today was Emma's birthday, so I decided to do a roast chicken dinner.

In the end, we had chicken and broccoli and mashed potatoes and new potatoes with mint and butter and stuffing and breadsauce and gravy. And chocolate fudge cake for dessert. And we drank orange juice and apple juice and milk, though the milk wasn't Organic with a capital O. Almost everything else was, though, I think.

We laid the table with the yellow throw Janice gave us as an engagement present - it has red fish on it, and is very cheerful - and our matching cutlery that we don't use for everyday and our crystal wineglasses and our lovely yellow plates that we bought from Asda, which has now been bought by Walmart.

And we all wrote in a birthday card for Emma, even though she arrived before I took it out of its packaging to sign. We had two candles each on our slices of cake, to compliment the Birthday (Not Christmas!) cracker and party poppers that Emma and Janice brought. Emma popped the poppers and was duly covered in little bits of coloured paper.

After dinner, we had dessert while watching a BBC documentary about fish. Especially about plankton, and the food chain. It was pretty good. Emma and Janice and I kept talking during it, though, which may have annoyed the Muppet a little.

That sounds lovely.

One Of These Days, [livejournal.com profile] gridlore and [livejournal.com profile] kshandra and I will have this place cleaned up enough that I feel comfortable having guests over for dinner. I miss dinner parties.

Danger! Danger!

Wow, someone found a use for the radiation hazard symbol!

For us, it's more the living room. Which is the first thing you see when you come in. But now that we've moved fruniture around, the living room will get a much-needed cleansing.
