It's my birthday. I feel a bit shitty, because I stayed up until well after 3 am because of the party last night.

Still, I got some cleaning up done, and the bookshelves painted, so it was useful, at least.

When I went to sleep at last, I decided to go for the spare bed so as not to wake Rob up. He came and found me at 6:30 am and we went back to the real bed. I think I woke at about 1 pm.

Then there were presents. That rocked.

OK. So there were two bars of Lindt 70% cocoa chocolate, and a book about the nine lives of highly effective cats. Then there was book 9 in Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time series, for which I nearly hit him or left him or both, and a toy electronics lab where you can build your own radio or kitchen timer or 128 other things. I never had one when I was a kid (I'm a girl, always have been) and he had had one and I was jealous.

Then there were cards. I got one from my favourite sister, and one from his sister, and a letter and a photo from his grandmother, and a card from his parents, and a card from his friend from University, which really made my day. I mean, I knew all the others liked me, but I didn't know about James (hi James!). It's nice to be liked.

Oh, and [livejournal.com profile] clairaidewished me happy birthday too. That was good.

Erm, the rest of the day I tried to tidy the house in honour of chere mama who is coming to see us tomorrow. And we built and filled the bookshelves, at last.

We were going to eat out, but decided not to on the grounds that staying in and shelving books would be more fun.

So a lousy birthday turned out to be a great birthday. Yay.
