To give 'them' some credit, 10 years is a long time in medicine. Maybe it wasn't fixable then. Maybe there are new techniques and it's only now that enough surgeons are trained in them for the service to be offered?
Or maybe 'they' just didn't care enough about womens' health back then. Who knows. I prefer the positive thoughts though.
