We're home. The whole hospital thing couldn't have been nicer without, like, maid service and a bedside hot tub, but we are nonetheless shattered.

Astrid will be fine; she has tonsillitis which is obstructing her airway, but we have 7 or 8 more days of a 10-day course of antibiotics to give her which will help with that. Her breathing is laboured but not alarmingly so. She's exhausted, though - she was so tired earlier she fell over in her own living room and bopped her face on a chair, so we have to give her the meds on one side of her mouth only.

Giving the meds is a two-person job; one to hold her down, and the other to administer the 5ml dose in 0.5 ml minidoses. Rob has to leave early tomorrow to collect the girls from the last day of their holiday, and every other day this week he has to leave even earlier for work, so we'll be waking Astrid before 6am to drug her up, I think. She's had 3 of 4 doses today so far.

Oxygen monitors are a bit brilliant, aren't they? I was able to sleep beautifully once I didn't have to sit up over her making sure she was breathing by, like, looking.

So glad you are home again, with solutions and plans. Sleep cannot be over-rated and I'm glad you will be able to get some again now. SO scary when their breathing is threatened.

I had tonsillitis not long ago and it wiped me out completely, but it never obstructed my breathing too. No wonder Astrid's so tired. Here's hoping both of you get some sound sleep.

Oh that's much better news. Hopefully she'll feel a lot better soon, and then you can all get some rest.

Sending lots of get-well wishes for Astrid (& recovery-type wishes for all of you). Hope the antibiotics kick in forthwith & she starts feeling better v quickly.

I have been reading this backwards and I scroll back through entries I've missed over the weekend. You have had a hell of a weekend. Hugs and clear breathing thoughts are winging their way to you now. I hope another hospital trip isn't on the cards but that instead things start to improve and you can relax.

HUGS
