Showering is not grossly self-indulgent; it's hygiene, and it's good and important. I know you're trying to save water, and that's cool and all, but you do know that the gray water that escapes you ends up in water treatment plants and back in your drinking water, right? Please cut yourself some slack.

It was the prospect of 4 mins in a room all by myself that was appealing most to me, but either way, I promise I wasn't *really* feeling bad about the shower.

Our water company loses 26% of its potable water to leaks.

Oh, good! Not the leaks, the not feeling bad. :-) And yes, solitude is a luxury! (One thing about our newly empty nest is that it's more likely I'll have whole minutes -- sometimes an hour or two -- when I don't have to talk or interact with ANYone.)
