Water

I put a bucket in the sink while I washed my hands. I used wet soap to wash them, only turning on the tap to wet and rinse my hands, leaving it off while I lathered, scrubbed etc. I still used about a litre. Later, washing basically clean hands after using the loo (no scrubbing mud off), I used over half a litre. My bathroom sink is shaped such that filling it enough to wash my hands without a running tape for the rinse would use MORE water than that.

But so far saving water in a bucket in the garden is easier than I'd feared it might be. By the time restricted water use comes in we might well be about ready.

Hosepipe ban from early April, standpipes in the street don't look impossible by the end of the summer. Though if it's a very wet summer that might not happen.
