Hurrah for Lá Fhéile Bhríde
Feb. 2nd, 2012 04:14 pmSpring is here! I see daylight every morning before lunchtime and everything. There are things growing in the garden and making pretty colours. Days are getting longer.
Of course, the world is full of snot and upset tummies, but that's my job, so that's ok. And I have arranged some semi-regular time off; a friend will babysit the kids in the house while I get out for two hours a week or so. The first one was a bit of a flop as I spent the time feeling like everyone was looking at me going YOU'RE SO LAZY YOU LAYABOUT WHY ARE YOU NOT WORKING, which, you know, is totally what I think when I see other people in town, oh wait.
We have a new food mixer. I dunno why it's called a food mixer, it's clearly a cake mixer. It's small and neat and sits out on the countertop making cakes almost all by itself. Hurrah! I even iced a cake recently, because the cake-making part was so easy that I didn't mind.
The children weren't impressed by the first of February, except that it meant Linnea's Aquila magazine came.
We need to buy a guest bed before Rob goes away in March so that the people coming here to Ailbhesit have somewhere to sleep.

Date: 2012-02-03 01:47 pm (UTC)So it's planting season, the start of growing season, which is *very nearly* the same thing as spring. I have bulbs being green and leafy all around the garden too. The primoses/polyanthus are all flowering, but they never stopped so that doesn't count.

Date: 2012-02-03 11:41 am (UTC)- When are we ever going to the Reading Gang's house?
- On the 1st of March.
So now he knows lots of month names, and how many days are in February, and that it's a leap year, and that it's 2012, and all kinds of things.
