For those of you who've been reading for the past eight years, I had good news on New Year's Eve and it's still good.

Presumably nerves have regrown, around where That Obstetrician took out the catheter without deflating the bulb, because I have regained sensation to the point where I can now tell when I need to empty my bladder. This is going to make an AMAZING difference to my life.

Yay! (Also, *wince*, and "can I ram that obstetrician's head into a wall to determine experinentally wirther those nerves will regrow?")

I didn't know. I'll omit the 'how appalling' remarks, because I'm sure you've heard them all before and then again, and do not need to be told by me.

I am very glad that the feeling has come back.

In a way, that's even more appalling than the original trauma itself. Unsurprising though, sadly.

I'm so glad you've experienced some healing though! Somewhat selfishly, it gives me a bit of hope for myself.

I've been neglecting LJ this year but this made me very happy to be back.

If it helps any, I've always been "incredibly meticulous" (quote from someone disparaging my technique. Me, I think being meticulous to be a good thing) about emptying catheter bulbs.
