We went to Ireland to see my mother and celebrate her 70th birthday. It's just as well we made the effort to go over - for the third time this year! - as none of her other daughters made it, presumably because of being exhausted from supporting one of their children in hospital. The good news is that the baby is out, his operation was fine, and he's full of love and laughter again. He's spent more than 20% of his life in hospital though.

My mother turned 70 successfully but with no fireworks. Two of her own sisters dropped in, and we were there, and she and I did the traditional wishing each other happy birthday thing, and in the evening we had pink champagne and played Scrabble, which sums things up nicely. One day we went to Trabolgan and all got nasty colds, but that was ok. I didn't realise anyone put one-year-olds in high-back boosters with the adult seatbelt though. Nor that lap-belts were still a thing. Hm.

We also spent time with [personal profile] radegund and her children, which was... manic, but lovely. We discussed my art and I grouped things by price bracket, which was nice. And we all had the biggest most 'stonishing cold.

When we got back, the new bedrooms looked good. But we were all ill. So first we trashed the house, then I spent the week fixing it. It's almost back to normal now, ish. Oh, and my computer stopped working and I did hhuuuuuuuuuuge updates and things.

I will photograph the bedrooms soon and show you. I'm really very pleased with them.
