Making things
Oct. 4th, 2011 11:01 pmI am designing in my head a coat-rack based on a tree shape. Somehow. What I can't work out is how to fix it to the wall in a reasonable, non-swiss-cheese way. But I want the kids to have hooks low on the trunk and us to have high ones, and one branch to be for keys and one for letters and maybe holes in the trunk for gloves... and then I want to make little wire-coathanger birdies to sit on the branches. Except maybe I want to make fish, not birds. I can't decide.

It sounds wonderful in any case - best of luck making it!
Ooh, a thought for fixing it - have you seen Sugru (http://sugru.com/)? It starts out like plasticine and sets to a sort of rubbery consistency, so it ought to hold things to the wall once set, but can be easily removed if needed.
