A little after bedtime I went in to wake Rob (he sometimes falls asleep cuddling Emer to sleep) and Linnea was lying in the dark with her eyes open, so I stroked her face and said "Thank you for a lovely day."

"What did you say?"

"I said thank you, for a lovely day."

And she smiled with her eyes and her nose and her mouth and it grew over her sleepy face slowly and it was beautiful.
