I feel particularly useless today, because I am sitting around while Rob tidies.

I hung the nappies and washed and hung the towels. I also washed three special loads of one item each, and a rug. I filled and ran and emptied the dishwasher. I cleaned ALL the children, including the one who had an accident on the rug. I put away clean dry laundry. I made my bed. I made everyone lunch and several people breakfast. I did fractions with Linnea, body parts with Astrid, and something else with Emer, I forget what right now. I tidied up. I helped Rob replace our dining room speakers, and made a meal plan for next week. I did finance stuff online. I fed everyone dinner and got Emer ready for Girls' Brigade when Linnea wasn't well enough to go.

Could be worse.

I don't think that it ever really makes a difference what anyone else thinks when one feels like this, but for what it is worth I think you are heroic.

I can hardly imagine anyone further from being a useless whinger.

I too think you are an extremely useful non-whinger. You are great and you do lots and lots of good stuff.

Everytime you log stuff like this, I think 'blimey, she works SO hard!'

You have done more today than I have done all week I think.
And you may have been "doing nothing" while Rob tidied, but are you not entitled to a break? You can't work all day everyday can you? So you might periodic ally be "doing nothing" while another family member is doing their part of the family chores.
Cut yourself some slack.

You work immensely hard, and taking a break while Rob tidies is not lazy.

Resting enough to sustain your workload is important: I have the same argument with colleagues who work excessive hours in my office, and are later ill.
