Finally spoke to the next-door-neighbour whose music is loud enough that the high notes hurt my ears through the wall - and loud enough that although he plays it upstairs at the front of the house, I can hear it downstairs at the back of the house.

He's not happy; everywhere he lives people complain about his music and he's tired of it. He pays high rent and wants to play his music. It's his passion. He's a DJ.

Also, I suspect, unable to hear some of the frequencies he's blasting out. Ho hum.

Other than that, Astrid was ONE YEAR OLD. And took TWO STEPS unsupported. And had a PARTY. With PRESENTS and CAKE and a BIG CANDLE. Her big sisters feel she was properly fêted. Rob and I found it unusually low stress, as birthday parties go, and will build an extension to house her haul shortly.

Today we have finished setting up the sandpit, almost; Rob is hoping to beat Argos' closing time for the rest of the sand. And we found a Swedish-English bakery, selling cinnamon buns and lardie cake, in the Broad St Mall - on the outside bit, near Headmasters hairdressers.

My joints are all swoll up and I don't like it.

Rob is going away tomorrow overnight, back late on Tuesday. I've been painting like mad and loving it. Can't wait to get paid for enough painting that I can afford to buy lots of big canvases.

Sorry we didn't make it to the party- by the time my family left it was nearly too late and we were knackered. Would very much like to see you (all) soon, though.

Re neighbor: if everyone he lives hear complains, why doesn't he realize he's making too much noise? Just because he's a Dj doesn't mean he has to bring his work home with him. Headphones would work but then he couldn't "educate" the neighbors to HIS taste in music :-(

Why can't the neighbor use headphones? Is he unaware of this technology?

This was my thought also.

U suspect the answer is "because he's a selfish git."

Happy birthday Astrid! I am impressed with her walking - James, boy-like, is only just now cruising round the furniture and just beginning to walk with something to push, still very tottery. It will be another month at least before he is walking, and a great deal longer before he walks unsupported!

Ah, but she has 2 doting older sisters to fetch things for her, so has less incentive, I suspect. ;-) Happy Birthday to her, and Yay for her walking.

Your noisy neighbour needs to be educated about your right to some peace and quiet. Maybe you could ask his landlord to install sound proofing and pass the cost on to your neighbour? (At the very least it would let the landlord know that there is a problem with their tenant.)
