But the evening made up for it. Neither Rob nor I got any sleep last night, and as far as I can tell the three children and I ALL had a headache today - one each, not one between us on timeshare. We tried to tidy up and then tried to eat some lunch but it was all faily faily faily fail, failitty fail fail foo. WAH. Then I thought it would be nice if Emer and I made some orange juice but we had a row instead and she stormed off crying. Then I made up with her and we made juice - blood oranges make the MOST EXCITING juice but any juice is pretty good. She didn't like drinking it though because it had bits in.

Eventually, after doing something like five loads of laundry in the machine and two dishwasher loads and a lot of handwashing dishes and general whingey boring wah meh ick, I decided it had to happen and I MADE PANCAKES.

And the day just magically got better. At about 7pm but you can't have everything. The first batch didn't work because our special pancake pan from John Lewis seems to have been sanded with glasspaper or something - it's extra sticky in the middle. The next lot went a bit better because I used the paella pan, with deep, upright sides, which made turning them a little tricky but that's ok. All the children ate with enthusiasm and Rob came home half an hour earlier than I'd hoped and HE got to eat some TOO and then I ate some myself and THEN we got the kids to change into pyjamas for more EXTRA-LARGE pancakes with SUGAR on and it was BRILLIANT and then they brushed their teeth and went to bed and it's all lovely.

And even Astrid's headache seems to have gone.

And WHS are having a half price sale on art stuff on the same day as I found our sketchbooks are mostly full. YAY.

All I want now is chocolate cake, tea, and minions with peacock-feather fans. And a hot tub. And ecologically sound hot tub. Yeah.
