We got the middle bedroom re-floored and partially painted and tidied and that's just as well, because my mother is here for Christmas. She's here now - she's the first person I've heard reading The Rag Coat without accidentally putting on an American accent.

We have a Christmas tree and it is decorated, and we have a wreath on the door, and we have a HUGE pile of presents high up where Astrid can't unwrap them, and we have various other decorations in other places, and we have found the Christmas stockings, and the children have finished their Christmas shopping and I THINK so have we, except the final food shopping which we'll do on Friday or Saturday.

We've got the door on the final wardrobe in the girls' room and I'm almost caught up on laundry.

We have had visitors almost every day for a million years.

The chief librarian at the local library is retiring and nobody else at the final carol service in the library mentioned all she's done for babies and children and parents so I had to, but it was fine, apparently I sounded perfectly coherent and not up myself at all.
