We were ill. Astrid had croup. For three nights she couldn't sleep, was feverish, tried to get out of bed to escape from the pain and then stood beside the bed crying because it didn't work. I learned that Astrid's crying doesn't wake Rob. Nor does her coughing herself sick. But me kicking him viciously is very effective and he's very helpful when he is awake.
Anyway, I became exhausted and ill myself, unsurprisingly, and Rob kept the tea and bagels coming, fed the other two children their main meals, and laid the hardboard for the floor in the middle bedroom. He also painted one coat on a wall in there, so we're well on the way now.
Now I have my list for recovering from a weekend of no housework plus illness.
