Plan? What plan?
Jul. 3rd, 2011 10:11 pmNothing today went according to plan. Last night Astrid showed definite signs of A Touch Of The Sun so she and I went to bed to rehydrate her. This morning she and Emer were still showing ATotS signs so we didn't go out to Meeting, as at 9am ish the back garden was at 25C and we couldn't see any clouds.
So we did housework and stuff instead. The children painted, which was nice. A little after noon the little girl down the road came - actually, first Emer went over to her, and then they came back here. She didn't leave until her family dragged her back at feeding time; they offered to collect her earlier, but eventually believed that she wasn't a drain or a burden and left her here. She stands up for herself beautifully, and is a joy and a delight. Her family are pleased she is making a friend so that she can improve her English; she was very shy last year and I wonder does she have trouble in large school-sized groups because she's been here for AGES. Her English is fine ,with patchy bits; the foreign accent overlaid with the local glo'al stops and hangin' word endin's is a bit peculiar. I can understand my own children's accents, best out of three, I mean free, but hers was more of a challenge.
Sings beautifully though.
Linnea and I tried to use a Grafix brand kit to do a plaster cast of her foot but we messed up at the mold-making stage so we saved the plaster for later. Then we all went to the community garden for a picnic dinner and to put up the new tent...
... which has holes in the wrong places and is being returned, boo hiss.
Now we're freezing meals for Rob's trip to the USA and then we're tidying up so I can live in this house tomorrow. Yup.
