What a week

Rob went back to work and my mother was here. Her dentist got it wrong AGAIN so she has to come back. That's good, because I miss her when she's not here, but she'd rather be getting on with her life.

I've been reading a lot about Badman's home ed review and cereta's post on rape and consent (yes, every comment on the original post, no, I'm not ready to stop yet, yes, it's a lot of reading). I'm really, really emotionally and intellectually tired by these things. Really. But I feel worse when I try to opt out of the discussion for too long, because I feel very strongly that this stuff needs to be discussed.

However, the world contains excellent decaf coffee, and chocolate cake in a mug, and co-op membership vouchers.

Tomorrow is Reading Waterfest. Today Emer wore pants, not nappies. Yesterday Linnea had a go in her new handwriting book and today she started looking at her knitting again. The weather was excellent for drying laundry.

I can't decide how to have the posters of pomes printed. Who would you use?

Book publishing

I was insufficiently stressed, so I am writing a cover letter to a publisher in the hope that they'll publish my fourth collection of poetry. The first three are on sale at http://www.lulu.com/ailbhe/ and as one of the points in my letter is that I've sold X number of the first three, now would be a good time to buy :)

I published them long enough ago that I can now say honestly that I think they are lovely books, and the poems and photographs go well together. They are all positive poems about motherhood, in tone if not in absolute content, and I'm very proud of them.

Proud enough to try for a real-life publisher this time.

Cotillion

I'm doing that obviously-PMS-type crying, where I can clearly identify that as the reason for being miserable and still can't stop, and my copy of "Cotillion" by Georgette Heyer is missing. How can I possibly feel better now?!
