Right. From the top, ie 13th.

Congratulations to Janice and Taras who got married and were the cause of many fabulous photographs.

L+O came and N didn't and we got stacks of furniture moved and a new dishwasher and Linnea has a new wardrobe and things are shaping up.

L+O's visit included the fair trade shop, the global cafe, the baby-friendly cafe with free net access, the farmer's market, one playground, the trike, a nanny gah doh, Unny ba (like on y va), and mornings in bed with TWO toddlers and a cup of tea and sometimes a - fast-escaping - cat. And some other stuff - a toddler group and a doctor's visit and people being appalled at a child having to have a prescription PAID for, and really, really stupid parents who don't go to sleep when they ought to and so end up so tired they keep walking into things and falling over.

There was other stuff.

Then there was a day of housework, and then the day the midwife came (see earlier post) and we left for a campsite just outside Henley-on-Thames, just shy of a 10-mile cycle in the trike. Conclusion: we can go away for a weekend, the three of us, in the trike - but there's no room for Rob's legs in the box with the luggage so he has to cycle, and Ailbhe's pregnant back isn't keen on that particular seated position after the first hour. We shall have to pack better next time so the luggage takes up less space, but we didn't exactly have much time.

Camping itself was good - Linnea found it hard to sleep with daylight streaming through the tent walls, but enjoyed the tent itself very much. I must investigate maternity-fit sleeping bags, possibly with a self-inflating bump support and between-the-knees cushion. Multimats are more comfortable than thermarests AND easier to deflate and stow. When camping as a family we need a lot less food than when camping with a crowd of Pratchett fans. A tent in which everyone can stand upright in the middle is fabulous, as is having two enclosed pods for sleeping, either of which can take all three of us easily (And we suspect it will still take four, next year). This leaves us a pod for luggage, which is fab. The trike makes a great camping armchair thing, with much less of the backdestroying sag than the regular foldy ones have. The most important thing to remember while camping - which I always, always forget - is to drink lots of water so that the morning sun doesn't bake me dead. Dehydration causes Braxton Hicks contractions so that was a barrel of laughs. Linnea's new full-length sleeping bag - bought as a compromise between tininess and price - cost about twice what ours did, and is worth it. It's miniscule when stowed. And she loves it.

The weather was... changeable.

We are now home, have seen the Dr Who we taped on Saturday, and exhausted. Hurrah for dishwashers and washing machines.
