A Day in the Life
Feb. 5th, 2006 08:45 pmAll in all, a good day. I didn't get to sleep until long after 4 am, due to pregnancy insomnia, indigestion, and pre-scan nerves (the sudden conviction that the baby isn't there, or has died, or something). So I slept until noon. I woke up when the front door opened; Rob and Linnea were coming back from the park.
Then we went into town and I had a smoothie from Fuel, a new stand in the shopping centre, with banana, strawberry, toasted oats, apple juice, and sorbet. Linnea likes "special juice".
I must must must start making my own smoothies. It's not like we're low on fruit to put into them.
I had a nice time wearing my new top from H&M and my long-lost maternity jeans, which were on my wardrobe rail in with all the stuff that doesn't fit from before I got pregnant with Linnea. huh. I'm also wearing a pair of Bridgedale hiking socks, which have great arch support, which is lovely when pregnant. I felt comfortable and well-dressed, something that doesn't happen very often these days.
We found a shop selling relatively cheap novelty wellies for adults, so I can get some of those when spring comes and the puddles start appearing properly. We bought lots of antacids for my late-night chewing pleasure. We came home via a friend's house, but there was no-one in, so we called on someone else instead. And the first friends had gone to visit the second friends, calling in on us first, but there was no-one in.
Then we came home and Rob cooked a spaghetti bolognese, and while it was cooking he prepped a cottage pie, and then we ate dinner, and after dinner we had the cake he made yesterday. I was able to cook plain vegetables yesterday without heaving, so I expect the rest of the week will go fairly easily; it's all dishes where the veg-prep can happen, then I can add the meat and run away while it cooks. Because we're back to normal now, after all!
I want to find a site that will give me all the Freeview Digital TV listings in a "Now and next" format. I don't seem able to manage the Radio Times website satisfactorily, and nor can Rob.
But today I feel very alive, very awake, very able.
And very full of yummy food.
