Some of you may remember that I ordered and received a Mooncup, but then couldn't use it due to the birth injuries. So I decided that rather than waiting for surgery, which after all may not even be successful, I would order some Lunapads. So I did, a while ago, and they arrived after the heaviest days of my period were over, but I started using them anyway - why put any more disposable sanitary towels in landfill than I have to?

My first thought was "I wish these had been around after I had Linnea," because wow I have never used a "sanitary product" so comfortable. Seriously, it's actually pleasant. Not just "the absence of unpleasant", but pleasant. They're soft and slightly fluffy and comfortable. I want pyjamas made in this fabric. It's a shame that underwear made of this would be too warm, because it would be glorious. Mmm. Yes.

They are also very practical, with booster liners held in place with - laugh if you want to - ric-rac braid. I certainly laughed. It's daft. But it's effective. And they have Little Wings! All the best sanitary towels have little wings, after all - these ones popper up under your pants (panties for Americans) and all's well.

I was expecting utilitarian and a little adjusting to a less comfy but more ecofriendly lifestyle. Instead, I'm thrilled.

(And while I'm at it, I love my new post-pregnancy menstrual cycle - predictable almost to the day, and I haven't been disabled by cramping since I had her. Hurrah! Long may it continue!)

So the shoes I bought for Linnea on April 7th are definitely too small now - she was, at that time, a size 4.5G fitting, and so we bought size 5F because no-one makes shoes in a G fitting if they can possibly avoid it. Certainly not sandals. Now she's a size 5G on one side and a 5H on the other - no-one makes size H at all, according to the many shoe-shops I visited today.

So summer's shoe theme is Red. She has red sandals and red wellies. She's really very very good in shoe-shops, apart from running away a lot, and she didn't scream or howl or kick anyone even once. Also, 9 weeks is pretty good going for a pair of baby shoes, really; 6-8 weeks isn't unusual. It's still going to be a major expense for the next n years.

I also bought her a body-covering swimsuit with factor 40 sun protection, because I really, really don't want to cope with a sunburned baby at all this summer. And a flotation vest, because I don't want to cope with her in the sea without one. My arms already ache a lot from chasing her and catching her and rescuing her. I could try quashing her instead, but it wouldn't be as much fun and I'm sure it would be wrong.

Rhyme Time at the library was good this morning - she danced on her own to a lot of the songs, since neither she nor I know the actions to most of them, and she stayed perfectly happy the whole time.

I'm seriously considering moving on to waterproof training pants instead of regular nappies. She's just getting too big. I'll have her weighed on Tuesday to see how much too big.

We need help! Linnea and I are bored with our lunches. We need food that takes no cooking (well, boiled eggs are ok) and is easy to eat. If it can easily be taken on outings in a lunchbox for up to 6 hours, so much the better.

She will eat cooked tomatoes, but not raw. She will not eat oranges, mandarins, satsumas. She will eat bananas by the crate. She likes rice cakes but not if they have anything on them. She loves eggs.

Go on then.
