You Must Be Very Proud
May. 27th, 2005 11:25 pmI didn't witness it, but damn do I wish I had. Yesterday evening, Rob was sitting by the sink, brushing Linnea's teeth, as usual - she has 8 incisey ones and 4 molars and they all need brushing. I do mornings, he does evenings. She seized the brush from his grasp, leaned over, turned on the cold tap, adjusted the flow, ran the water over the bristles of the brush, inserted the brush in her mouth, and brushed her own teeth.
I bought her a baby-sized fork today. She likes it. She will eat almost anything if you spear it with a fork first - I say almost, because some things I have to nibble at enthusiastically before she'll try them. She likes to explore new foodstuffs with her fingers before eating them.
She loves olives. Mm-mm, olives!
I am much better now. I am a little coughy, and the tiniest bit of cigarette smoke hurts like crazy, but I went to the doctor yesterday (he was able to use a stethoscope fine with my underwear on this time, which may or may not have been because Rob was with me) and he says I'm just about clear, need no more antibiotics, and should be recovered in two to three weeks.
I started "getting a cold" on about 2 May - the Bank Holiday Monday after Linnea's birthday. Two weeks from yesterday is 9 June. That's 38 days without being wholly well, and I can't swear to having been well before the birthday, but Other Things took precedence over physical issues then.
We're going on holiday in the lowest-stress place I know in late June. I can't wait. I clearly need to chill out.
My sister, by the way, will be getting underwear for her own self. I gave serious consideration to Unique, Individual Gifts for the baby, and decided that since they still have unopened gifts of clothes and toys from the births of both their other children, they probably don't need any more baby stuff they haven't chosen themselves.
(And, in Breastfeeding Advocacy News, my La Leche League membership stuff came through today - possible reviews or rants or something on the newsletter and the two books I bought may be coming soon to a journal near you.)
(This is a journal. Does that make me a journalist?)
