The first year
Apr. 29th, 2005 10:25 pmAt the end of this year, your baby can: walk; run; climb the climbing frame in the park to the top but not reach the fireman's pole to slide down again thank god; rock a rocking horse; empty a bookcase in -30 seconds or faster; blow raspberries anytime, anyplace, anyhow; get off climbed objects safely when not in a hurry; put any garment on over her head given enough time and effort, including socks; put her own feet in her shoes when they are held out for her, though often the wrong feet, but who's counting?; ask for a drink, a cuddle, a nappy change, a banana, more banana, another banana, more milk, a book, another banana, bedtime, or to get out of the bath; find Daddy, even when he's in a different room; wave bye-bye to indicate that she is about to leave through that door there, the big one open onto the street, bye! bye! can't catch me!; laugh until your heart explodes everywhere and then help you pick up the pieces one by one, "Ta!" and "Ta!" and put them away, ready to be played with another time, like now.
