"Only my brainy nails..."

I am better! Well, I still can't speak properly, and my sinuses are a bit gooey, but I'm mostly better. And so's my eye.

In other news, I have been pondering (inspired by someone else's journal, as so many of these things are) Gifted Child Syndrome. This is the one where you

• are born with talents which set you apart somewhat,
• madly crave approval while feeling sure that you haven't earned it because, after all, you were born with these talents,
• fear failure enough that if you're not actively good at something you don't try to do it,
• usually end up having a particularly hard time relating to real actual people, partially due to not learning how to hide being more [talent] than the people around you.

I know an inordinate number of people suffer from this, and more people who don't think it exists.

Gifted Child Syndrome, part 2, segueing into Talking About Myself

I've been out all day, but can now sit down and maybe think properly witter about what I jotted down for the previous entry. Somebody stop me if there is actually a real condition called "Gifted Child Syndrome", because I heard it in casual conversation and am using it as a useful tag for my own witterings and I'd hate to find that I was mis-educating people about something that psychotherapists could mis-educate them about much better. Trust me, that sentence looked even worse with the proper grammar.

Done:

1. Posted final invitation. That's it, no-one else can be invited unless someone calls in sick.
2. Paid remainder of room hire fee to Town Hall.
3. Took call from caterer confirming meeting at Town Hall on Saturday.
4. Visited Ellie to see her new house.
5. Booked depilation appointment so that I don't have horrible hairy legs for my wedding. Groo. Where's all my feminist courage when I need it?

To do:

1. Buy socks and cufflinks for Rob, and maybe new underwear for myself.
2. Finalise translations of ceremony and post it to the registrar.
3. Arrange to visit Megabitch and Korenwolf, though the arrangements never seem to quite work out...
4. Arrange roughly when I will do the whole facial thing so that I can plan various other things.
