Age 8 months to the very day

Shoe size

Height

Weight 7kg approx? does that sound right? I should weigh her.

Teeth: She has two at the bottom and one and a bit at the top. She likes to make noise by rubbing them together.

Hair:
She has some; it's darker than the other two were but not very dark. Also, it's not very much, just some. Enough that she's not actually bald. It's incredibly soft.

Eating:
She eats solid foods and has done for a while; she picks up and eats peas, potato, pasta, meat, rice, etc, and takes squishier things off a spoon. We give her bread and gluteny things. We haven't tested her on cow's milk products. She likes our vegan pesto, and Rob's dhal (adapted from Janice's recipe, I think). She drinks water from a straw dripped into her mouth, and sometimes from a Doidy cup, and sometimes from a sippy cup. Mainly, she eats milk.

Fine motor control:
It's pretty good - she can pick up peas, take my glasses off and drop them on the floor so Emer can walk on them, etc.

Gross motor control:
She can roll both ways, crawl, use her feet to kick a blanket away on purpose, grasp a blanket and then move her arms to pull it over her face and away again for peekaboo, and she can pull herself up to standing and cruise along the furniture. Emer says she has seen Astrid pull herself up, let go with both hands, and not fall down, then windmill her arms "like this!" and grab for her support again. She can bring her hands together to clap but not get a noise yet. Rob has seen her climb the bottom step of the stairs.

Understanding sign language:
I am rubbish at using it, but she understands "milk". She has also signed it a few times.

Understanding spoken language:
She knows her name, Emer, Linnea and Daddy. She also seems to understand Food and Nappy. We're not sure about much else. She babbles like crazy, occasionally producing combinations which sound like words - today she said "Love" quite distinctly - but isn't speaking at all.

Sleep: She sleeps in with us and I get basically a full night's shared sleep most nights, if everyone else lets me.

I loved reading this. Although I'll admit partly for selfish reasons. I feel a bit funny with most of the mums I know with similar aged babies because Alyssa does so much more. We meet up and I have to chase her round/provide opportunities for entertainment while theirs all nap in prams or sit on knees!

It's reassuring to see a slightly bigger baby who does similar, but slightly advanced, things.
