ailbheI got up and ate breakfast. And the children had breakfast. And I was productive - Linnea and I tidied the front room together while listening to a CD of her choice, and I made sure Emer had time with the computer without Linnea's guidance and assistance (!), and I cleaned the toilet twice, once in the morning and again in the afternoon, and did laundry and everyone got dressed and then we had visitors and the children had cup-a-soup for lunch and then the visitors left and there was beans on toast for tea and while they were at Girls' Brigade Rob and I tidied their bedroom thoroughly.
Chickpeas ferment if you leave them soaking long enough.
Scented candles can't hide the smell, either, though vinegar helps.
In baby news, Astrid's cold developed to include a cough this evening. And she is much happier with almost-strangers than Emer was, presumably because she hasn't had to deal with an absentee mother in the same way. At this stage in Emer's life I was all post-viral-fatiguey and she hardly ever got to see me. And then she got really ill. Poor Emer. Her bad teeth are our lasting souvenir of that time.
