The menu looks the same as last year, more or less. My mother is HERE and, weather permitting, Rob's parents will be here on Boxing Day (they don't have Stephen here). We have neighbours coming for Swedish Christmas Eve dinner. Our tree is AWESOME and Linnea and I made an angel that looks like something from http://hyperboleandahalf.blogspot.com/ and we gave the leftover decorations away. Tomorrow we will set up the nativity in the toy kitchen, I think.

Astrid has had her vaccinations, only a month late due to illnessesssessseseseseses. She's somewhat shaken by them, ho hum. I have to keep thinking of the herd.

Also, she can roll over. Clearly that's caused by immunity.

So glad to hear that your mother made it over! I've been hearing horror stories from all quarters in the Uk, including from my sister, whose husband was at a conference in Germany and got stuck there for a few extra days.

I do hope my mother makes it out to ours for Christmas, she plans to, but my father's health has been poor, and they've transferred him to a new nursing home whose standards of care we're not happy with (beautiful building, incompetent staff - the exact opposite of the old place which was falling down but had the most wonderful staff of nurses and nursing assistants and care givers. We even knew & liked the cleaning staff!) so she may decide not to leave him for the day.

I'm hosting the family Christmas dinner for the first time ever, T's parents, grandmother, brother, sister-in-law, and 6-month old niece, and hopefully my mother. Every so often as I work through my menu plan, I think very thankful thoughts in your direction, as I watched you do it for a couple of years and learned a lot!

I'm happy that your mother was able to come for the holidays. I'm sure it will be good for her. The Older Generation (I'm included) won't be around forever and need to spend some celebratory time with the grandchildren whenever possible. Of course it is up to all of us to make sure the occasion is happy, not stressful or adversarial.

Your Swedish Christmas Eve sounds wonderful.

Yay for your mum making it!

We were doing great with vaccinations until the snow and the last has now been delayed till January. I HATE them so much but they are so necessary.

Yes, the vaccinating thing is so counter-intuitive, isn't it? Deliberately making them slightly ill. Hope Astrid is over it for the big day.

And I'm so glad you're all with your mother. I hope it's a fantastic Christmas.

oh, hooray.

We *do* have Stephen, we just have another name for it too. Deep and crisp an deven, and all that.
