Right, have ordered Argos storage, Rob to collect this evening. Also, have told the children that if I tidied everything up today, and if I stand on something and hurt my foot again, I will put that something in the bin.

They seem to think this is a fair combination of events; the injury to my foot was pretty gruesome, and they watched me sticking it all back together before putting a plaster on, so they appreciate how serious this stuff can be. They were also a bit shocked and impressed by the way I didn't drop the baby even though that happened to my foot.

I think it's going to be ok. I didn't lose my temper either day and we have a future plan.

Was chatting to a Granny in teh cafe today. Her daughter was there. We ended up talking about boundaries.

Daughter brought up the fateful afternoon, Mum had said "If you do not lcear this all up, by the next time I can in, I'll burn it all to ash."

And that's what she did, with their dressing up box. That she's slaved to create for them too!

We were talking about once your threaten, you have to follow through, and the real trick is NOT threatening something, you will regret. She said she spent a lot of her motherhood, clamping her lips shut, and NOT saying "If you don't do this, I will do that...." because once you had, you were stuck with it!

Actually, the 70 odd year old Granny, said the exact same thing. She said children needed to start with respect - ie, the adult had to respect the child. And that positive reinforcement was vital. She actually said that phrase - positive reinforcement.

She also said she must have had PMT, the day she made the threat!

She was fun!
