Yargh body yargh snow yargh children yargh
Dec. 2nd, 2010 09:46 pmRob was late home because of blah blah snow blah blah frozen blah blah signal failure blah blah. I didn't find out until after I'd been brilliantly efficient and got the children fed and pyjamaed and everything, ready for Daddy's bedtime story and bed. Thank all the gods that Lucy was here and was able to read them the story; I managed toilet trips and facewashing and teeth with Astrid under my arm, but patiently and lovingly reading a story while trying to soothe Astrid would have been Too Much.
Anyway, instead of being away 6:30-19:00 he was away 6:30-21:15. I AM SO GLAD HE CAME HOME YOU GUYS. I shoved Astrid at him and curled into a metaphorical ball.
Still, dinner was delicious, considering; we had very little prepared, though Rob washed three potatoes last night, so I made a casserole with beef and onion and leek and potato and bouillon and red wine left over from the ferry trip a month ago.
And the children and I were good friends at the end of the day. The less said about lunchtime the better.
My big restful break today was taking Astrid into my room, closing the door, and nursing her down to sleep, while the Archers was on the radio. When I got out, I found that Linnea had gone out the front door, closed it, and was playing on the doorstep while Emer looked out the letterbox at her.
Send gin.

Date: 2010-12-03 03:40 pm (UTC)There's nothing quite like that streeeeeeeeeeetching feeling of having paced yourself for a 19:00 return and it not happening until 21:15.
And Linnea ... jay. I'm sure she knew she was perfickly safe.
