Loads to do. The journey was epic - on the way back we only had gale force 8 headwinds, it was worse on the way out. Bathtowels can be folded into swans. The ferry was 4 hours late to Cork and 3 hours late to Swansea. First Class train seats are still too big and deep for me and I end up hurting. Family is great and exhausting.
Cut baby's nails
Polished bathroom taps
Sorted a load of light-coloured laundry and washed it with stain remover
Unpacked the overnight bag, the rucksack, and the rest of the huge suitcase
Put away all my and Astrid's clean clothes
Dealt with a lot of infant mucus - Astrid has a cold, so is swallowing, excreting and coughing up mucus. It's great.
Changed three nappies.
Folded and stacked 11 nappies ready to use.
Packed nappy change bag to go out.
Washed swimsuits for swimming lesson (we swam the morning we left Cork, with my mother and my aunt, so they were packed wet)
Emptied and refilled the dishwasher, mainly with cake-making and yesterday's-dinner stuff
Changed another nappy
Washed Astrid and changed her into clean clothes
Fed Astrid to sleep
Made lunch
Hung swimsuits to dry
Spilt soup on my last clean trousers, put two pairs of new dye-runny jeans in the wash
Did online banking
Edit: Hung 2 pairs jeans and 1 10-euro note to dry
Hung load of lights and whites to dry
Put delicates on to wash
Packed swim bag
Cleaned toilet
Did three more nappies, I think
Emptied and refilled dishwasher
Washed dishwasher filter
Half-cleared dining table
Further edit:Defrosted meat for tonight's dinner
Sorted out the calendars on the fridge - way out of date
Forced children to get dressed
Sorted my hair out, it won't lie down
Brought children to swimming lesson
Found enough ID and proof of address to get new library cards for three of us
To do:
Clear kitchen counters of the rest of the just-came-home-made-food mess
Wash the magimix my cake was made in
Wash the pan last night's dinner was cooked in
Clear tables in dining room
Clear floors every bloody where
Cook dinner
Clear up
Have birthday party
With luck Rob will do some of those things, but a certain amount of it has to happen before he gets home.
Thanks for all the birthday wishes and now I have to go write my birthday cards from the children; they each made me a card and a cut-out paper heart this morning. I must write about Halloween later. And the trip, which was epic.
Once again I'm open to all suggestions for an infant with a cough and a snuffle - particularly interested in ways to make sure the 4-year-old doesn't catch it.

Lots of oranges for you and the older kids!
