Last year, it went on in early October. 2008 it went on in September. This year, we had it on yesterday evening, but it's off again today.

Ours went on Friday before last, when I was ill and we had howling wind and rain, and went off again when I got better.

We put ours on when it was very cold back in late September. It's a real shock going from the flat which was very warm, because of being sandwiched between two other flats.

This is where we are very lucky; flat sandwiched between 4 other flats (either side, above and below) with new, very efficient insulation. Last year we had heating on for two months in Scotland! However when it does go on it is rubbish electric heating.

A large number of 'freak' weather events in a row makes a climate!

We turned ours on for an hour a few weekends ago, and again last weekend for an hour. Hoping to get through this weekend without it, but that depends on how the current forecast continues.

We have had it on very low a couple of times in the past week, and then come in the next day and gone, "PHEW! Switch it off, quick!"

We had the chimney swept, so now I can build a wood fire in the evenings when it gets cool, rather than putting on the central heating. Yay!
