Making time for thesecond child
Jun. 2nd, 2009 09:52 pmI heard a lot, when I was expecting Emer, about being sure to make time for the first child and not give all my attention to the new one.
So I was surprised, today, to find myself sitting in the garden with Emer. We sat on the bench under the tree, and I leaned back and read my book (Sprig Muslin, Georgette Heyer) and she rested her head on my tummy and ate her apple. It lasted about a quarter of an hour.
I had hundreds of times like that with Linnea. For Emer, they are very rare, and I didn't realise what we were missing.
