Why is my gas cooker making noise?

ailbheShould I get it serviced? has it always made noise and I never noticed?
I honestly thought I had tinnitus until I realised it was the cooker.
(In other questions, why didn't I take dinner out to defrost yesterday, after Astrid's vaccinations, instead of waiting until this afternoon? we're going to be eating late again).
