What happened?
Sep. 19th, 2010 08:04 pmMonday - Housework, and Day 01 of No Family Dinner schedule, where the children and I eat before Rob gets home. We had dinner almost immediately after swimming, and Rob came home as we were starting, more or less. It worked brilliantly. Also started reading Madeline, which the children enjoyed.
Tuesday - Emer's vaccinations and Linnea's new shoes. Also, collected Emer's pre-ordered new sandals.
Wednesday - we stayed at home and did as little as possible. Linnea wrote a book about square numbers, which she used to teach Astrid to count, apparently.
Thursday - Rob didn't go to work. We all went to the ice-skating session in Oxford, then home, and Rob brought Emer to the dentist and Linnea and I stayed at home with Astrid and made brownies. Mary came and we ate the brownies and then went out to the library, where I got a huge stack of Diana Wynne Joneses.
Friday - some ex-neighbours came to visit in the morning and we had a lovely time. Then we went to ERAPA for the afternoon, and then home, dinner, and out again to Girls' Brigade. After Rob put the children to bed we finished filling in and having witnessed Astrid's passport application, so that can be posted as soon as I can get to a Post Office.
Saturday - I was supposed to go out to a True Food Co-Op emergency meeting but was far too tired, which is a pain. I sent apologies. But that meant I was at home when Pol brought our new table; he took away our old gateleg "homeschool" table with its four folding chairs unsuitable for children inside, and left his old gateleg table with six storage drawers inside instead. In theory, both households now have folding tables more suited to their needs.
Sunday - We all went to Meeting, and Rob even went in to Meeting proper, not just hanging around the creche as usual. After that we came home, had lunch, and went out to visit neighbours we didn't see much of through lack of organisation. The children played a few board games and then Lego.
Then we came home, ate, bathed the older girls, demonstrated Google Video Chat, had icecream, and now Rob is putting the girls to bed.
He leaves tomorrow morning. In his place he has left a freezerful of cooked dinners and bags and bags of muffins, bara brith, etc. Wish us luck!

Date: 2010-09-19 09:53 pm (UTC)I installed google video chat a couple of weeks ago (having finally acquired a laptop with a built in webcam) but since then I have been either too nervous or too knackered to use it! One day I will appear and make you jump, maybe...

Date: 2010-09-20 06:42 am (UTC)From experience of 2 week business trips, the first week is ok, the weekend is awful & the second is a bit bumpy. The weekends might be ok for me now mine are older though, Andy hasn't had a 2 week one since Holly started school.
