Laundry

I have no idea how we generate so much of it. So far today I've done two sets of single bedding, one of king-size, hung the load of nappies that was washed overnight, done a load of towels, and there's currently a load including a tablecloth in there.

And there will be clothes, too - very few so far but there are plenty waiting to go on.

Still, I did yesterday's dishwasher-load. And I've developed a bit of a thing about washing soda; I used it in the thermos flask, then on the top of the grill where Rob keeps spare saucepans, and then I washed out the filthy filthy grill tray. I need to replace the usual tinfoil with our reusable thing now, but I've lost it.

Still, we didn't need to buy new clothes for the DWCon. We had exactly the right number of pants for the children, and an extra pair of socks each, in the end. Though one of my own pairs of pants suffered Major Elastic Fail and were binned rather than packed to take home again.

I do at least two laundry loads a day now since I had A (although one is a nappy load, dunno if that counts). I have no idea how I would cope with laundry for two more people!

What is your reuseable grill thing and where did you get it? We go through an obscene amount of tinfoil so that sort of kitchen thing would be excellent for us.

I was glad I decided to take an extra pair of trousers to DWCon (even though they are a little tight). On the Friday afternoon was heading up to our room, just got to the lift and the button fell off.

As there were no handy dwarfs with forges around to re-fit it, I ended up wearing the other pair for the rest of the weekend.

I once had a shirt that was "repaired" for the better part of a year with a bit of embroidery floss and a safety pin, rather than sewn on. (I didn't have needle and thread at that particular moment.)

I take it though that you mean a riveted button.

Yep, a riveted button. If it was sewn on, I would have Gone To Ops and asked for a needle and thread. Nevermind, I should be able to fix it, or replace it, when I've got time :)
