But rather more of it than I had hoped for. However. Emer has decided it's a good day to use air-drying clay and because Lucy helped us tidy up yesterday there's even enough space to do it!

I need to finish the tidying, downstairs, and do an awful lot more laundry; yesterday was a bad day and I didn't get much done beyond going to the hospital and not defenestrating the children.

Today should be better; we have a supermarket order arriving (Oh, I can't wait until after this baby is born and I can go grocery shopping myself again! it costs so much more to do it remotely!) and the weather is lovely. Also, Emer woke before Rob left the house so she got snuggled and he dressed her; performing necessary care tasks is an important part of how she knows he loves her, so that's a big deal for the whole day.

I hope nothing dreadful happens. At least the budget can't be as bad as I dreamt it was.

I'm so glad someone agrees with me. Unless I do a big shop at a cheap supermarket like Asda, it always works out more expensive to shop online for me.

I agree too- I seem to have some sort of volume of trolley = cost equation going on, and know that I shouldn't be filling the trolley more than x amount for the sort of shop I'm doing. That's impossible to do with online. I keep seeing things and going Oooooo want and then suddenly it's £100.

This - I never have meal plans when I go shopping, even for a party or special occasion. What if they don't have what's on my list? What if they do but it's not fresh or not good quality? I need to be able to think on my feet, and especially with fresh ingredients, feel and see and smell things before deciding what to cook. Not an option online...

I throw away waaaay too much food as it is; partly it's my own fault, patly it's bulk packaging that isn't always ideal for a household of one. But if I try and "do a shop", dictating to myself in advance what to eat for the next week or whatever, loads more of it goes in the bin. I'm just not nearly organised enough to cook things according to a plan - either I end up going out, eating dry cereal out of the box, or otherwise missing meals, or I just look in the fridge and can't bring myself to eat what I see in there. So I try to shop like the French - buy each day or each other day only the things I'm going to eat there and then. Easy when you haven't got children, I know.

We do quite well in the not-throwing-away-much-food stakes.

My only annoyance is Cauldron's doubling of the size of their tofu packaging: all of a sudden we end up chucking half-blocks of tofu because of changes in plans. Their previous size was Just Right (TM) for us.
