Actually it hasn't been all that bad
Jun. 18th, 2010 09:55 pmI am still bloomingly healthy. Yesterday we had visitors who'd never been here before, and we all sat in the garden and the children played and the adults talked and there was a lovely baby who lay on blankets on the grass. In the end a bit of the swing broke, but Rob was able to fix it with something we already had in the house, which is good, because we couldn't find a replacement part - or swing - online. Because we were eating and drinking outside for the first time since the good weather went away, it was the first time I had used beaded food covers from Lakeland, and I was very pleased with them. They do indeed keep the insects out of the food, unlike mesh umbrellas they don't take up extra space on the table, and they go clink in a cheerful way.
Yesterday I also sorted and cleared a lot of the worst of the mess in the garden, which was useful and probably not very wise. But I am very pleased it's done, anyway.
Oh, and I made scones.
In fact, I overdid it stupidly, and had a lovely time.
Today I needed crutches to get around. But I still got some stuff sorted - no baking, sadly. I have a chocolate-and-berries cake in my head I want to make. But we all had the regulation three meals, and a snack, and in the evening we made up the children's bookcase, so maybe their bedroom can stop being so chaotic. I think they only have about 1.5m or 2m of books to shelve, really. Now that there's somewhere for them to go, perhaps we'll find out.
Tomorrow is hectic, I think - many errands before 10am and then I think Rob is going with a friend to the Civic Amenity Site (the dump, the tip, whatever) with their dumpables and our dumpables. We've freegled and kerbside-recycled all we can now.
Now Rob and I need to decide what's essential housework before we can give up and go to bed.
