We were up until after midnight because Rob had a 13-hour day and so bedtime was correspondingly late and fraught, then Linnea woke at some unspecified time before 6am so she was sweetness and light all morning, and when I woke I felt as though someone had hammered my kidneys with a camping mallet and could hardly stand upright.

We made it through the morning ok though and eventually I was able to shower and dress, even. And then I got some small progress with the laundry and the children had a visitor - whcih went well, especially given how completely underslept Linnea was - and Linnea went to Girls' Brigade and Rob came home after the normal 11.5-12 hours (makes a huge, huge difference) and he and Emer started building a bookcase.

The other thing that happened today was that someone came over to advise me on jasmine-pruning and take a cutting, and actually ended up pruning it herself (I believe the term used by gardeners is "vigorous") for the reward of a bowl of warm berries and custard.

Now the jasmine is potentially controllable, and we have Yet More Patio Space, and all we need to do is tie it up to the fence before it falls on its face.

Perhaps Rob can buy hooks and string tomorrow. Clas Ohlson are bound to have some. Or Robert Dyas.
