Yesterday was so sunny I got BURNED. Neither child did, though, thankfully; perhaps Emer has outgrown her sun allergy thing and I am pregnantly photosensitive, or something. Dermatology is not my specialism. But yesterday was a morning of shouting, squabbling, whining, suddenly discovering housework which HAD to be done, the washing machine not being steady so I couldn't use it, and when we eventually escaped the house over an hour late, the sunshine was DESPERATELY needed.

The children played in a group of friends I met through having children, who have also now all met each other too; neighbours, that's what they're called! I think there were nine children in all. We went to the Oxford Road Community Garden and had a picnic. One friend even brought cake specially chosen to be non-dairy for my children's benefit; another let everyone borrow their sunscreen. I have wonderful friends.

Today we were all up early; Emer had no no nappy and a dry bed, which may be a first. I opened the front door at about nine, so we could move tomato plants, and it stayed open most of the time until elevenish. Beautiful day. The children and I then went out to find a haircut.

We found a hairdresser doing men's and ladies' cuts at different prices, but all-over grades for a fiver regardless of genitalia. So we asked if they had space, and I got a grade six, to start the summer off, and Linnea -

Linnea -

Linnea has her very first Proper Haircut, rather than Trim Her Natural Style. She has a bob. It looks magnificent. She looks a bit younger than with it long and tied back, which I like, and she loves it, and sometimes I think she looks a bit French, in a blonde way. I will post photos friendslocked later. We celebrated with lunch at Morena, the café now in Moondogs' premises. Good value for money, very friendly, well-cooked food, and I learned that Alphablocks has taught Linnea to call Yoohoo! when she wants someone's attention, which was embarrassing. We fixed it though. Jeez.

Then we came home and all three of us had showers, and I did more laundry, and collapsed in horrible pain from all the walking and showering. But Rob has come home and is feeding me bread and chocolate spread, which is helping.

Would love to see a photo. Would love mine to have bobs, but Kate now appears to be growing hers long (as her best friend has long, long hair) & Holly has shoulder length, fly away wavy hair, so not really suitable for a bob.

1. Looking forward to a picture of Linnea's bob haircut.

2. Have Moondogs' closed or moved? Glad to hear the new café in the premises is good.

3. My sister is pregnant! May I give her your contact details if she needs someone who can answer questions about having babies in England? (Feel entirely free to say "no" if it might be stressful for you!)

That sounds like a fabulous day and I am utterly jealous. It looks ridiculously lovely outside here today but I have to stay home and write essays before going back to placement on Monday boo :-(
